Dilan Yeshilgez, the leader of the ruling coalition of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (NPSD), was taken to a safe place after law enforcement agencies received a report of a "suspicious situation" near her home in Amsterdam. The incident occurred on the evening of October 25 after the election debate.

"In the end, I was only able to return home in the dead of night. Unfortunately, such things happen sometimes," the politician said on the program Buitenhof on the NPO TV channel.

Yeshilgez clarified that the possible threat, according to preliminary data, is related to the activities of an organized criminal group.

"According to my information, we are not talking about a lone criminal," she said.

Answering a question about how the incident affected her election campaign before the early parliamentary elections on October 29, Yeshilgez ironically noted that now she "applies more makeup to hide dark circles under her eyes."

Kaspar Veldkamp, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, submitted his resignation on August 22. He stated that he could not agree with the rest of the members of the interim cabinet on the adoption of additional sanctions against Israel. Later, on August 23, the King of the Netherlands dismissed members of the government from the New Social Contract (NSC) party who had asked for their resignation, including Weldkamp.
