More than 70 states have signed the UN Convention against Cybercrime. This was announced on October 26 by Russian Prosecutor General Alexander Gutsan during a meeting with his Angolan counterpart Elder Fernando Pitt Grosh in Hanoi.

"The figure was announced yesterday, and now the figure is slightly higher — more than 70 states," Gutan said.

The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation stressed that the scale of crimes in the information space today poses a threat not only to individual states, but also to global security as a whole. According to him, effective counteraction to cybercrime is possible only with the combined efforts of countries.

On October 25, Russian Prosecutor General Alexander Gutsan signed the UN Convention against Cybercrime on behalf of the Russian Federation. It was clarified that the document is the world's first global international agreement aimed at strengthening information security. The Convention is based on the principles of equality of all States and non-interference in their internal affairs.

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the signing of the UN Convention against Cybercrime a historic event. He also noted that Russia is ready for close international cooperation in the field of combating cybercrime.
