Human aging begins when a person reaches the age of 25, and the signs of this process are formed under the influence of external factors and lifestyle. This was announced on October 26 by Svetlana Rykova, Associate Professor of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology at the Sklifosovsky Sechenov University Medical Center.

"On the one hand, modern science knows about the possibility of living to 120 years, and on the other — the aging process at the cellular level has been running for about 25 years. It is from this age that the foundations of those chronic non-communicable diseases, such as problems with the cardiovascular system, diabetes or obesity, begin to be laid," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The specialist emphasized that all the diagnoses listed by her are mainly manifested in patients after 40 years of age. To increase life expectancy and improve its quality, Rykova advised to engage in physical activity, adhere to a balanced diet and follow a work and rest regime. An important element in this process, according to Rykova, is sleep hygiene, which plays a critical role in maintaining cognitive functions and overall human well-being.

David Ghazaryan, CEO of Bioniq Russia and the CIS, also noted the importance of sleep for the human body in an interview with Izvestia a day earlier. He called this process the foundation of physiological and mental recovery, which allows the brain to be cleansed of toxins and during which tissue regeneration occurs, as well as cortisol levels normalize.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
