The UFC title fight between Gan and Aspinallan was declared invalid.
The fight for the title of the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion between British fighter Tom Aspinall and Frenchman Cyril Gan was declared invalid. The fight took place on October 25 in Abu Dhabi at the UFC 321 tournament.
It is clarified that an incident occurred in the first round: Gan accidentally poked Aspinall in the eye with his finger. After that, the fight was stopped.
According to the "Sport-Express", at the beginning of the round, Gan controlled the distance, preventing Aspinall from approaching. The British athlete, after making several attempts to get closer, switched to the tactics of working as number two, but gradually increased the pressure and even landed a good punch in the jaw of Ghana.
The French fighter, in turn, landed more punches, one of which resulted in Aspinall's nose being cut. At the end of the round, Cyril hit his opponent in the eye with his fingers. Aspinall took a break, trying to regain his eyesight, but it didn't help.
After a four-minute examination by doctors, Aspinall reported that he was not ready to continue the fight. Thus, the duel was declared invalid.
Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Umar Nurmagomedov defeated American Mario Bautista in a UFC bout in Abu Dhabi on October 25. The meeting ended with a score 30:27, 30:27, 30:27.
