Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Alexander Gutsan signed the UN Convention against Cybercrime on behalf of the Russian Federation. This was announced on October 25 by the press service of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office.

"The document was developed on the initiative of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office with the coordinating role of the Russian Foreign Ministry," the department's Telegram channel says.

The document is the world's first global international agreement aimed at strengthening information security.

Gutsan arrived in Hanoi on October 24 to sign the UN Convention against Cybercrime. He headed the Russian interdepartmental delegation on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

At the 35th meeting of the Coordinating Council of General Prosecutors of the CIS member States in Dushanbe on October 21, Gutsan delivered a report on combating crime in the field of information and communication technologies. He stated that last year the number of cybercrimes exceeded 765 thousand. Following the meeting, Gutsan was elected Chairman of the Coordinating Council of CIS Prosecutors General.
