The West has launched an entire information campaign to cancel the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump. This was announced on October 24 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"Now, literally over the past few days, we have seen an information attack involving everything: artificial intelligence, traditional media, and correspondents in connection with the negotiations that were supposed to take place in Budapest. The countries agreed and were preparing for the meeting. But an information campaign was launched that gave people around the world the feeling that everything was supposedly heading towards their abolition," the diplomat said at the VIII Global Forum of Young Diplomats.

According to her, American media, former government officials and experts were involved in this, and the distribution was carried out through Telegram channels and social networks from different countries.

"That is, not real events reflected under the virtual space, but a virtually created theme, a virtually created message, and virtually created circumstances that do not exist, they do not exist, not only in the virtual world, affect the real development of events," Zakharova concluded.

Earlier, on October 21, Zakharova called on the media not to participate in the information booth amid rumors of a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. On October 22, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry linked fakes about the meeting between Lavrov and Rubio with attempts to support Zelensky. She added that after Zelensky's visit to Washington, he returned "not with a shield, but on a shield" without his usual joyful moods. In this regard, in her opinion, this entire information campaign may be an attempt to somehow cheer up the Ukrainian president.
