Murashko reported that sugar consumption in Russia exceeded four times
Currently, Russians consume large amounts of "empty calories" that are not important for normal functioning. This was announced on October 23 by Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko.
"We have switched to consuming large amounts of empty calories, which, in fact, we do not need for life. Today, among other things, we are struggling with our habits, and these habits, they are formed by our biology, are to love sweets, to love fats," he said during the plenary session of the National Health Congress.
He also drew attention to the impact of aggressive food marketing, saying that numerous studies have shown a direct relationship between the advertising of certain products and the growth of overweight problems among the population.
