Guo Jiakun clarified that China actively promotes dialogue and reconciliation, and strictly regulates the export of dual-use goods. He also recalled that many countries, including the EU and the United States, maintain regular trade relations with Russia.

The diplomat stressed that China will take all necessary measures to protect its legitimate interests.

On October 16, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said that US President Donald Trump was undermining global supply chains by calling on countries to stop buying oil from Russia. Jiang also added that the United States uses China as an excuse to impose illegal unilateral sanctions "for any reason."
