A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. Units of the North group of forces defeated formations of four mechanized, jaeger brigades, the assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the air defense brigade in the areas of the settlements of Varachino, Iskriskovshchyna, Kondratovka, Korchakovka and Leninskoye in the Sumy region. In the Kharkiv direction, units of the mechanized brigade and the assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Volchansk and Dergachi, Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 195 military personnel, an armored combat vehicle, 15 vehicles, a 155 mm M198 howitzer made in the United States, an electronic warfare station and four material depots.

"The units of the Zapad group of forces have improved their position along the front line. They defeated the manpower and equipment of six mechanized, assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard brigades in the areas of the settlements of Velikaya Shapkovka, Kupyansk, Kurilovka, Senkovo of the Kharkiv region, Drobyshevo and Yampol of the Donetsk People's Republic. The enemy's losses amounted to over 230 military personnel, 16 vehicles, and three field artillery pieces. Six electronic warfare stations and five ammunition depots were destroyed," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The fighters of the Center group of forces improved their tactical situation. They defeated the manpower and equipment of three mechanized, jaeger, assault, two amphibious assault brigades, four assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two marine brigades and two National Guard brigades in the areas of the settlements of Belitskoye, Grishino, Dimitrov, Zolotoy Kolodez and Krasnoarmeysk of the Donetsk People's Republic. The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to over 535 military personnel, a tank, four armored combat vehicles manufactured by NATO countries, three pickup trucks and an artillery piece.

The Russian army, with the help of aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated energy facilities that operated enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, assembly shops, storage and launch sites for long-range unmanned aerial vehicles, fuel depots, as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries in 152 districts. In turn, air defense systems shot down three guided aerial bombs and 293 aircraft-type drones.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 668 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 91,983 UAVs, 633 anti-aircraft missile systems, 25,630 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,605 multiple rocket launchers, 30,725 field artillery and mortars, 44,642 units of special military vehicles.
