Moscow considers the new US restrictive measures against Russian oil companies to be counterproductive, but they will not cause serious difficulties for the Russian economy. This was announced on October 23 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"I cannot but comment on the news about the decision announced by the US Treasury Department to impose unilateral restrictive measures against Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil under the pretext, to quote bluntly, of "insufficient commitment by the Russian side to a peaceful settlement in Ukraine." We consider this step to be extremely counterproductive," Zakharova said at a briefing.

According to her, such actions by Washington undermine the prospects for reaching agreements on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the new sanctions would not create significant problems for Russia.
