Rumors about the alleged cancellation of the summit of the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, in Hungary are being spread by pro-military politicians through their media in order to disrupt the meeting. This was stated by the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Peter Szijjarto.

"It does not surprise me at all that in recent days there has been a continuous stream of news, rumors and fakes in various media outlets that there will not be a peace summit, or that it may not take place, or that it will not take place now. This should be considered natural, since the pro—military camp and the media serving it are clearly interested in preventing this peace summit from taking place, and are fighting it on their own," Szijjarto said on M1 TV channel.

The Minister stressed that Hungary continues to prepare for the summit and is ready to provide a venue for the meeting. He urged not to succumb to misinformation, noting that the stream of fakes will continue until the negotiations are held.

Szijjarto also pointed out that pro-military forces use methods such as links to unnamed officials and fake news to counteract the dialogue.

The day before, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, in an interview with Izvestia, urged not to pay attention to fake Western media reports about the upcoming meeting between Putin and Trump. According to her, there is an "infobalagan" in European information sources, whose participants are trying to compete with each other in attempts to create the most creative fake.

In turn, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special representative of the President of Russia for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, said that preparations for the Russia-US summit were continuing. He added that the information that appeared in the media about the alleged postponement of negotiations to the "near future" after a telephone conversation between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was distorted.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
