Lavrov expressed solidarity with Venezuela in the face of growing external threats
Russia stands in solidarity with Venezuela in the face of growing external threats and interventions. This was announced on October 21 by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
It is specified that the diplomat presented the Order of Friendship to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Venezuela in Moscow, Jorge Roman Salazar. During the conversation, which took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the parties discussed further deepening the strategic partnership between Russia and Venezuela.
"Lavrov reaffirmed his solidarity with the government and people of Venezuela in the face of growing external threats and attempts to interfere in internal affairs, as well as his full support for Caracas' efforts to protect national sovereignty," the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its official website.
The head of Russian diplomacy also noted that Russia will continue to support Venezuela in its quest to preserve Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace.
Earlier in the day, deputies of the State Duma (State Duma) ratified the Agreement on Strategic Partnership and Cooperation between Russia and Venezuela. The document is aimed at expanding cooperation between the two countries in the political and economic spheres, including such areas as energy, mining, transport, communications, as well as security and the fight against terrorism and extremism.
