The UK has opened a fraud case against the lawyers of blogger Mitroshina

The investigative authorities of the Main investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Moscow have opened a criminal case against Alice Volkhova, a lawyer from St. Petersburg, and Olga Goltseva, a lawyer accused of fraud on a particularly large scale against blogger Alexandra Mitroshina. This was reported on October 21 in the Telegram channel of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

"In 2023, Volkhov's lawyer defended the accused Alexandra Mitroshina in a criminal case on tax evasion, which was terminated in connection with compensation for damages," the report says.

Then, allegedly, Volkhova informed Mitroshina falsely about the need to transfer money for their "safety" and "prevention of write-off" by the tax authorities. She also promised to resolve issues with the staff of the Federal Tax Service, allegedly in connection with the tax audit of Mitroshina.

As a result, Mitroshina transferred at least 41 million rubles to the accounts of Volkhova and Goltseva. The defendants disposed of the money at their discretion.

A criminal case was opened into the incident in accordance with Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed by a group of persons by prior agreement on an especially large scale").

After carrying out the necessary investigative actions, the defendants in the case admitted their guilt. At the request of the investigation, the court chose a preventive measure against them in the form of house arrest.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that a criminal case had been opened against Volkhova and Goltseva, suspected of embezzling tens of millions of rubles from their former client, Mitroshina. According to Izvestia, the main episodes include three key transfers: 10.5 million rubles — transfer to the account of IP Volkhova under the guise of mediation payment, 9.5 million rubles — transfer to the account of ANO Dobro Sport Development Center, controlled by Volkhova, 21 million rubles — transfer to the account of the Charity Foundation "Sodruzhestvo" under the guise of charity donations.
