The Ukrainian world champion Belinskaya declared unwillingness to fight with Russians
On October 21, the Ukrainian world and European freestyle wrestling champion Alla Belinskaya spoke about her impressions of the duel with Russian Ksenia Burakova at the European Championships in Slovakia.
"I was only focused on winning. I had such emotions that I just had to win. Of course, it's unpleasant to fight them, I don't want to. But if necessary, we will fight," the Ukrainian OBOZ portal quotes her as saying.
She also added that she had not considered the possibility of shaking hands with Russian wrestlers.
Belinskaya's duel with Burakova took place in the quarterfinals of the championship and ended with the victory of the Ukrainian athlete. At the tournament, Russian wrestlers competed as neutral athletes under the banner of the United World of Wrestling (UWW).
On September 21, it was reported that Russian wrestlers won 11 medals at the World Championships, including one gold, four silver and six bronze. It was clarified that the gold of the Russian national team was brought by the freestyle wrestling athlete Zaur Uguyev in the weight class up to 61 kg.
