"I'm happy. In the most important moments, I was focused and played well. Finally, I was able to win the title after a break of several years," said Medvedev, quoted by Sport-Express.
The title fight lasted 2 hours and 36 minutes. Medvedev scored eight aces, but made five double faults and made four break points out of nine. His opponent Mute made one ace, had no double faults and made three break points out of five.
This victory was the first for Medvedev in two seasons. The Russian won the previous title in May 2023.
Earlier, on October 16, the Russian defeated Australian Adam Walton with a score of 7:5, 7:6 (7:0). Medvedev noted that he "saved" four or five break points, which helped him establish a rhythm and win a meeting with a difficult opponent.
