A Cameroonian-flagged vessel sent a distress signal after an explosion near the Yemeni city of Ahwar. This was reported on October 18 by the Reuters news agency.

"On Saturday, a tanker flying the flag of Cameroon sent a distress signal after an explosion on board," the article says.

According to the agency, the ship was sailing from the Omani port of Sohar to Djibouti. The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined. A search and rescue operation is currently underway at the scene.

In the city of Uruma, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, on August 20, a fire broke out on the amphibious transport dock of the US Navy USS New Orleans. According to a representative of the Japanese Coast Guard, it was confirmed that smoke was rising from the bow of the ship. Japan's Self-Defense Forces participated in extinguishing the fire.
