Six outbreaks, two of which turned out to be quite strong, were recorded on the night of October 18. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"Geomagnetic situation — the onset of magnetic storms is expected in the coming hours. The flash activity is increased, without risks to the Earth," the report says.

According to the researchers, four weak outbreaks were recorded before midnight. After that, an outbreak of M1.0 level occurred at 03:40, and at 05:39 the most powerful outbreak, estimated as M1.1, was recorded.

On October 17, it was reported that two comets burned up in the solar atmosphere with an interval of several hours. It is assumed that they were born together and may be two fragments of a large comet that was destroyed after a collision with an unknown object.
