The "pre-winter" season has begun in Russia. This was announced on October 18 by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand.

"A period has come that bears such a beautiful name, "predzimye," he said in an interview with TASS.

He explained that meteorologists use their own year division system, which has six seasons instead of the usual four. According to him, after autumn comes the pre-winter period, which begins in mid-October and lasts until mid-December.

Vilfand noted that at this time, the air circulation becomes extremely volatile, and the weather is gradually shifting to winter mode.

Tatiana Pozdnyakova, chief specialist of the Meteonosti news agency, warned on October 13 that a weather anomaly is expected in Russia next winter. The expert noted that in December, temperatures in the European part of the Russian Federation, the south of the Urals and Western Siberia will be slightly below the climatic norm.
