Guards Lieutenant Vasily Marzoev, commander of the reconnaissance platoon of the 108th Parachute Regiment of the seventh airborne division, died in the area of a special military operation. This was announced on October 17 by the Governor of North Ossetia, Sergey Menyailo.
"For his military services in the special military operation area, Vasily Marzoev was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia. My condolences to the family and loved ones," Menyailo wrote on his Telegram channel.
Marzoev was the son of the commander of the 18th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District, Lieutenant General Arkady Marzoev, and the nephew of Stanislav Marzoev, Colonel, deputy commander of the 58th Army of the North Caucasus Military District, who died in 2002 near Khankala (Chechnya).
According to Menyailo, he personally served with Stanislav Marzoev and carried out combat missions during the counter-terrorism operation in the Caucasus.
