On October 15, Marina Tauber, executive secretary of the executive committee of the Pobeda bloc, called the demand of the Moldovan prosecutor's office to extend her term a political decision that was taken at the behest of the ruling party.

"I've already said it and I'll say it again: This is not justice, but a purely political decision taken at the behest of the ruling group to suppress the opposition," she wrote on the Telegram channel.

According to her, the prosecutor's office may request "a hundred or a thousand years" for her. Tauber emphasized the cynicism of the system, pointing to double standards, when in the case of serious crimes that caused the death of people, prosecutors can demand more lenient punishments or postponements of sentences.

"I repeat: this verdict is illegal and represents a political order. We will fight for its cancellation in all courts," the politician added.

Earlier in the day, Moldova's anti-corruption prosecutor's office challenged Tauber's sentence and demanded an increase in her sentence. According to the agency, the punishment allegedly does not correspond to the severity of the crimes committed.

On September 30, a court in Chisinau sentenced Tauber in the case of alleged financing of the Shor party. She will serve her sentence in a semi-closed prison. It was clarified that the decision was made as part of a trial, the details of which were not disclosed.
