The Supreme Court allowed the seizure of the car of the cohabitant of the violator of traffic regulations

The Supreme Court of Russia has recognized as lawful the decision to seize a car belonging to the cohabitant of a man who was convicted several times for driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the court decision.

It is specified that Andrey Korshunov, a resident of the Tyumen region, was repeatedly convicted of drunk driving, despite the existing administrative penalties. The court confiscated his common-law wife's car, which Korshunov used for trips. The vehicle became material evidence in the case and was seized for state revenue.

"At the hearing, the convict explained that he had purchased a car with credit funds, issued it to his brother, and then to his cohabitant in order to exempt his brother from paying tax, they bear the costs of repairing the car jointly," TASS quotes the text of the Supreme Court decision.
