The National Assembly of Madagascar, which is the lower house of the country's parliament, voted to impeach President Andri Radzuelina. This was reported on October 14 by the Ogapde news portal.

According to the publication, the decision was supported almost unanimously — 130 deputies out of 131 present. However, it is worth noting that the parliament consists of 151 deputies in total.

The portal notes that representatives of the ruling party "Together with Andri Radzuellina" were among those who supported the resignation of the president. The parliamentarians also called illegal the president's decision to dissolve the lower house, which he announced earlier in the day.

The day before, the Russian Embassy in the island state told Izvestia about the ongoing tense situation in Madagascar. Later, the Russian diplomatic mission reported that all Russian tourists who applied to the Russian Embassy in Madagascar for help had flown from the island.

Prior to that, on October 11, it was reported that the President of Madagascar, Andri Radzuellina, could leave the capital of his state, Antananarivo, after the army refused to resist the demonstrators, which are attended by young people and students. However, Jeune Afrique magazine noted that this information is not confirmed.

On the same day, the Russian Embassy in the island state called on Russians, who earlier, on October 1, were advised to refrain from traveling to the republic, if they are in Madagascar, not to visit its capital. In addition, the Russian diplomatic mission urged to keep in touch with the embassy by phone in case of emergencies.
