- Bortnikov reported a decrease in the number of terrorist crimes in the North Caucasus Federal District
On October 14, Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the FSB and Chairman of the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), announced a more than twofold decrease in the number of terrorist crimes in 2025 in the North Caucasus Federal District compared to last year.
"As a result of the comprehensive implementation of law enforcement and preventive measures, the number of terrorist crimes committed in the district has more than doubled compared to last year," he said.
According to the committee, since the beginning of the year, 33 crimes have been prevented at the preparatory stage, including 27 terrorist attacks. At the same time, the FSB director stressed that the activity of international terrorist organizations and Ukrainian special services in the region continues, including recruitment via the Internet.
During the meeting, it was also reported that, thanks to the efforts of the authorized bodies, more than 3,000 minors were returned to the educational process, whom their parents transferred to extracurricular forms of education for religious reasons.
On October 13, military expert and political scientist Alexander Artamonov, in an interview with Izvestia, noted that the attempts on senior officials of the Russian Ministry of Defense have the signature of the West. According to him, it is from there that explosives come, which are periodically arrested on the roads.
