The probability of the appearance of auroras in the central part of Russia will remain for another one or two years, after which their appearance will become unlikely. This was announced on October 13 by the head of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI). RAN Sergey Bogachev.

"The decrease in activity is accompanied by a decrease in auroras. Therefore, people who want to see them, but do not want to travel to the polar regions for this, have a maximum of a year or two left," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Bogachev added that starting in 2027, the probability of auroras in the central part of the country will decrease to almost zero.

The scientist explained that auroras are complex phenomena that are difficult to predict, but their intensity directly depends on the effect of the Sun on the Earth.

The day before, the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the IKI RAS reported that the Earth found itself inside a stream of solar wind emanating from a coronal hole in the Sun, much earlier than expected. At that time, scientists warned about the onset of magnetic storms, the possible fixation of the aurora borealis in the evening in the central part of Russia.
