Estonia has imposed a short-term entry ban on Alexei Roslikov, a member of the Latvian parliament who advocates for the Russian language. This was announced on October 13 by the ERR broadcasting company.

According to the material, Roslikov, who was supposed to attend an event organized by former Riigikogu deputy Olga Ivanova, was stopped by the Estonian authorities immediately after crossing the border. According to the MP, despite the fact that he managed to cross the Estonian-Latvian border, his car was detained by the police, and he was informed about the ban on entry into the country.

Estonian Interior Minister Igor Taro said the entry ban would remain in effect until October 20. According to him, the decision was made based on an assessment of the risks associated with the actions of the politician.

"If a person has bad intentions about what he is trying to do in Estonia, especially with regard to supporting <Russia>, then he does not belong here," Taro said.

Ivanova called the ban on Roslikov's entry unacceptable, saying that the fight against freedom of speech and open discussion is a sign of weakness of the government, not strength.

"They are preparing an expulsion! Entry ban — ban! The reason is a threat to Estonia's national security," Roslikov wrote on his Telegram channel.

Earlier, on September 18, the Latvian police once again detained Roslikov, the head of the Stability party, who advocated for the protection of the Russian-speaking population. On August 21, Roslikov said that in Latvia, citizens are massively insulted for comments in Russian on social networks. He clarified that the country's law enforcement agencies do not interfere in the situation.
