- The Interior Ministry revealed the request of the callers under the guise of fraud tax inspectors
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has uncovered a new fraud scheme in which malefactors calling Russian citizens, posing as employees of the Federal Tax Service (FTS), persistently urge them to remove self-locking loans, allegedly to eliminate detected problems with debt or credit history. This is evidenced by the materials of the department on October 13.
According to the contents of the documents cited by TASS, criminals sometimes introduce themselves as bank employees — they tell a person about the discovery of suspicious transactions on his account and convince him to temporarily remove the self-lock, allegedly to save money. And sometimes, as it is specified, calls are received from allegedly government employees who promise benefits or payments, for which it is necessary to remove the self-lock.
The department called on Russians to immediately stop communicating with its initiators and contact law enforcement agencies if they record such incoming messages or messages.
Doctor of Psychological Sciences Nikolay Kozlov reported on October 11 that it is possible to recognize telephone scammers by analyzing their manner of speech, which most often has "street" specifics. Markers of the fact that the caller is a "law enforcement official" or the Federal Tax Service is actually a conman may include such words and phrases as "in kind," "what," "good," "who is it?" and others.
