The Colombian national team defeated Spain in the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Youth Championship on the night of October 11-12. The match ended with a score of 3:2.

In the match, which took place in Talc, Colombian football player Neyser Villarreal became the hero of the match, scoring a hat-trick (38th, 64th and 89th minutes). Ryan Belaid (56th) and Jean Virgili (59th) scored for the Spanish national team, but it wasn't enough to win.

The Colombian national team has qualified for the semi-finals of the World Youth Championship for the second time in its history and for the first time in 22 years. The Spaniards, in turn, reached the semifinals three times, and in 1999 they became champions.

In the semifinals, the Colombians will face the winner of the match between Mexico and Argentina.

Earlier, on October 11, the striker of the English football club Manchester City and the Norwegian national team, Erling Holand, scored three goals in a qualifying match for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the Israeli team. The match ended with a score of 5:0 in favor of the Norwegian national team.
