The State Duma proposed to reimburse employees for the use of personal gadgets

The employer must provide employees with the necessary equipment and communications to perform their work duties or compensate for expenses if employees use their gadgets. This was announced on October 10 by Yaroslav Nilov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs.

The deputy noted that if an employee uses a personal mobile phone or other devices to perform work functions, the employer is obliged to provide appropriate equipment or compensate for the costs of using personal gadgets.

"In order to carry out work assignments and functions, the employer must at least provide you with communication, telephone, other equipment or compensate for this use," Nilov said in an interview with TASS.

There is a growing trend of using personal gadgets and the Internet for work purposes, which raises the issue of employee compensation. Nilov proposed to oblige employers to specify the terms of reimbursement of these expenses in employment contracts.

In his opinion, the current norms of the Labor Code do not provide sufficient protection for the rights of employees, and therefore a draft law has been developed specifying the rules for compensation for the use of personal equipment for work purposes.

On October 7, Nilov made a proposal for annual salary indexation in Russia for all spheres. It was clarified that lawyers are working on an amendment to the Labor Code, the purpose of which will be to introduce flexible mechanisms in the article on salary increases that would stimulate not just formal implementation, but real income growth for each employee.
