Herzen University student gets 13 years for treason and justifying terrorism

The verdict of Daniil Galitsky, a student at A.I. Herzen University (listed as a terrorist in the Russian Federation), who was sentenced to 13 years in prison for treason and justification of terrorism, was recognized as legitimate. This was reported on October 9 at the Military Court of Appeal in Vlasikha.

"The verdict of May 19, 2025 against Galitsky Daniil Andreevich was left unchanged, and the appeals of the defense were dismissed. The decision has entered into force," the court told TASS.

It is clarified that the appeals of the defense were canceled. The verdict of May 19, 2025 remained unchanged. Galitsky was found guilty of financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and justifying terrorism. The trial in the first instance was held behind closed doors.

Galitsky was detained more than a year ago. Prior to that, he studied at the last year of the Department of Political Science, planning to become a political journalist. He was found guilty in accordance with Articles 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High treason") and Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls to carry out terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism or propaganda of terrorism").
