Death toll from Indonesia boarding school collapse rises to 67
In the Indonesian city of Sidoarjo in the east of Java province, a joint rescue team was able to evacuate 67 victims of the collapse of the Al-Khozini Islamic boarding school. This was reported on October 7 by the local TV company Kompas TV.
"The total number of evacuees is 171 people, 67 people died, eight of the 67 (dead) were body fragments," the publication says.
It is noted that operations to dismantle the rubble in the collapsed school building are continuing, and it is planned to complete them on this day.
NDT TV channel on September 30 reported the collapse of a school building in the east of the Indonesian island of Java. According to preliminary information, the tragedy could have occurred due to the fact that the foundation of the old building simply could not withstand two floors of concrete. The rubble mostly turned out to be young men studying from grades 7 to 11.
