A new deepfake has appeared on the Internet using the image of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova. This was reported on October 5 in the press service of the department.

It is noted that the scammers used a real video from Zakharova's interview for Sputnik radio, replacing the original sound with one generated by artificial intelligence (AI). The fake audio track contained statements about Ukraine and the Special military operation (SVO), although the original video was about the elections in Moldova. The agency called this content "another fake" created using neural network technologies.

"We remind you of the need to carefully check information published on social networks, including the authenticity of video content, on official resources," the Russian Foreign Ministry wrote on its Telegram channel.

On September 3, Zakharova commented on the reaction of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to his deepfake. According to her, the fake video appeared several years ago, when videos with superimposed faces of famous people had just begun to appear on social networks. The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that deepfakes can be dangerous, including for the material well-being of people.
