The government has imposed a temporary export duty on oilseed flax and approved regional quotas for corn exports. This was announced on October 4 by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.
"The government has introduced a temporary customs duty on the export of oilseed flax from Russia outside the Eurasian Economic Union. According to the signed decree, the export duty rate will be 10% of the customs value of raw materials," the press service said on the website.
This measure will be in effect until August 31, 2026, the decision will help stimulate flax processing and maintain a balance between the domestic market and exports.
In addition, the Government of the Russian Federation has established tariff quotas for duty-free export of corn from Primorsky Krai and Amur Region. Now it will amount to 280 thousand tons from the Primorsky Territory, and 130 thousand tons from the Amur Region.
The measures are valid until December 31 of this year and are aimed at helping local producers sell surplus products abroad in the absence of domestic demand.
On August 29, Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Maritime Board, noted that the volume of agricultural exports from Russia in 2024 amounted to $45 billion. He also drew attention to the fact that sanctions are a challenge for Russia, which it will successfully overcome. Patrushev stressed that the Russian economy must become independent "in all directions."
