Estonia has offered NATO to conduct exercises testing the use of nuclear weapons on the eastern flank of the alliance as part of a show of force. This was reported on October 3 by the Telegraph newspaper, referring to the Chancellor of the Estonian Foreign Ministry, Jonathan Vsevolod.

In an interview with the publication, Vsevolod said that he expects a more active display of force from NATO on its eastern border.

"He (Vsevolod — Ed.) listed a number of possible options [for a show of force], including exercises testing the use of nuclear weapons, the deployment of a British ship or the dispatch of a Turkish aircraft with a long-range radar detection and control system," the publication says.

On September 23, Estonia announced its readiness to host British fighter jets capable of carrying nuclear munitions. However, it was noted that there is no need to deploy strategic weapons in Estonia.

On June 27, the country's Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur already announced Estonia's readiness to accept F-35 fighter jets from the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) capable of carrying nuclear weapons. Pevkur added that F-35 fighter jets had previously visited Estonia and would soon be guarding the country's airspace again.
