Special forces units from the United States and Finland conducted joint exercises aimed at preparing for a possible conflict with Russia. This was reported on October 2 by The National Interest (NI) magazine.

"According to the Finnish military, the purpose of the Southern Griffin 25 exercises was to strengthen joint operations and interoperability between the country's special operations forces and the forces of the United States and the rest of NATO," the publication says.

It is specified that more than 1.6 thousand military personnel from nine NATO member countries took part in the exercises. As part of the Southern Griffin 25, the US military used MC-130J Commando II military transport aircraft and CV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft. From the Finnish side, the exercises were supported by F/A-18 combat aircraft.

Earlier, on September 1, it was reported that India and the United States will hold joint military exercises in Alaska. For two weeks, the military will practice a wide range of tactical exercises, including helicopter flights, mining operations, the use of surveillance equipment, unmanned aerial vehicles and electronic warfare systems.
