- The expert noted Hungary's interest in developing cooperation with the Russian Federation.
Russia continues to be a key partner for Hungary. Valery Platonov, director of the Russian Cultural Center in Budapest, told Izvestia about this on October 1.
"We continue to be a key economic and trade partner for Hungary," he said.
According to him, the focus is currently on energy supplies, but in a broader context, Russia remains an important player for Hungary. Platonov added that based on his personal contacts with Hungarian partners, interest in maintaining and restoring trade and economic ties remains high.
Hungary, in his opinion, will strive to maximize the use of this resource in its interests, which remain mutual. As an example, he cited the joint work on the modernization of the Paksha Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), which will not only improve its operation, but also open up prospects for capacity expansion.
Platonov stressed that despite the difficulties, Russia continues to be an important economic resource for Hungary, being both a powerful consumer and a source of vital resources for the neighboring country.
On September 24, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced Hungary's plans to continue energy cooperation with the Russian side. According to him, Moscow will remain a supplier of energy resources for Budapest.
