On October 1, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda expressed dissatisfaction with the inefficiency of NATO's rotational air defense systems. According to him, despite the fact that this idea was well laid down in the documents of the alliance, in practice it did not meet expectations.

"Unfortunately, I have to say that the very good idea of rotational air defense systems, laid down in the NATO documents, does not work, because since 2023, Dutch Patriot and Italian short—range air defense systems have been deployed for only a few weeks," he said on the CT24 TV channel, posted on the YouTube channel..

Nauseda also stressed that Lithuania and other countries should provide much greater support to Ukraine, since, according to him, the Ukrainian conflict costs €1 billion a year. According to the estimates of the Lithuanian president, Ukraine can cover half of this amount, and the rest should be provided by the international democratic community. He noted that peace negotiations are not working, and pressure and force are needed to resolve the conflict.

At the same time, Nauseda noted that, despite efforts to improve the social situation, including increasing pensions and social benefits, at the moment the main priority for Lithuania is to ensure defense.

On September 30, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine's goal is to receive $1 billion per month as part of an agreement between the United States and NATO on the supply of weapons to Kiev. It is clarified that the PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) initiative provides an opportunity for Kiev to purchase weapons, in particular Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems and other American equipment.

Prior to that, on September 11, it was reported that Ukraine was requesting $60 billion from the West, which would not include direct arms supplies and funds allocated by Washington. It was clarified that compared to 2024, Ukraine's financial requirements have doubled.
