- The Russian ambassador revealed the topic of Putin's talks during his visit to Tajikistan
During the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Tajikistan on October 9, it is planned to discuss a wide range of issues, including economic and humanitarian cooperation, as well as the situation in the region. The Russian Ambassador to the republic, Semyon Grigoriev, told reporters on September 30.
"As usually happens during trips of this level, he [Putin] will be accompanied by a high-ranking delegation: many ministers heading the security sector, the economic sector, and the humanitarian sector will accompany him on this trip. Accordingly, the range of issues discussed will be the widest. These are the economy, the international situation, humanitarian cooperation, and the situation in the region — you know that this situation is not easy and requires constant attention," TASS quoted him as saying.
The ambassador also added that Putin will take part in two multilateral events — the second Central Asia—Russia summit and a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State.
Grigoriev stressed that the exchange of visits between Russia and Tajikistan at a high level is active: during the years of his presidency, Putin has already visited the republic 12 times, and Tajik leader Emomali Rahmon has made several visits to the Russian Federation over the past year.
"In this regard, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin's upcoming state visit to Tajikistan is a continuation of this series of visits," the ambassador noted.
He also stressed the importance of Tajikistan's chairmanship in the CIS in 2025, noting that the republic is acting creatively, offering initiatives and steps to improve the effectiveness of the Commonwealth, while receiving the full support of Russia.
On September 1, Putin met with Rahmon at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. According to Putin, he and the President of Tajikistan are in constant contact. The Russian leader clarified that the governments of the two countries also interact with each other on a regular basis.
Later, on September 8, the Russian leader congratulated the head of Tajikistan on the Independence Day of the country and noted the successful development of relations between the two states. In addition, Putin pointed to Tajikistan's successes in the social and economic spheres and expressed hope for the development and strengthening of bilateral ties between the Russian Federation and Tajikistan.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin announced on the same day that Putin's visit to Tajikistan was scheduled for October 9. According to him, Putin's meeting with Rahmon will give a new powerful impetus to the development of ties and open up new vectors for bilateral contacts.
