Dodon pointed to Western interference in the Moldovan elections
Western countries used all levers to help the current government in the parliamentary elections in Moldova. This was announced on September 29 by the ex-President of the republic, leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon.
"All levers were used to help the current government," Dodon said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
He also noted that the elections were not only an internal political struggle, but also a geopolitical confrontation. In addition, the ex-president of the Republic accused European leaders of direct interference in the elections. According to him, almost all the key figures of the European government have visited Moldova recently.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the opposition forces won 49.8% of the vote in the parliamentary elections in Moldova. The ruling Action and Solidarity party won the first place with a final score of 50.2%. Thus, PAS received 78.61% of the votes in foreign polling stations.
In turn, Dodon said that the ruling PAS party did not win at the polling stations inside Moldova following the results of the parliamentary elections in the country. According to him, the diaspora has done everything possible to ensure that Moldovan President Maia Sandu and the ruling PAS party remain in power in the country.
According to the head of the Central Election Commission of Moldova, Angela Karaman, 236 violations were recorded during the last elections in the republic. They are related to damage to ballots, prohibited campaigning, removal of ballots from the territory of the polling station, suspicion of electoral corruption, violation of voting rights and interference with the activities of the electoral body.
