According to the calendar of holidays approved by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Russians will rest for 12 days during the New Year holidays in 2026. This was announced on September 24 by the press service of the Government of the Russian Federation.
It will be clarified that January 3 and 4 fall on weekends, they were postponed to January 9 and December 31, respectively.
Thus, Russians will be able to rest for 12 consecutive days — from December 31, 2025 to January 11, 2026. In addition, next year there will also be public holidays: from February 21 to 23, from March 7 to March 9, from May 1 to May 3, from May 9 to May 11, from June 12 to June 14, November 4 and December 31.
On September 18, HeadHunter labor law lawyer Daria Erzina said that Russians will have 22 working days and nine days off in December, including December 31, which will officially become a non-working day. Also, according to her, the long New Year holidays will begin on December 31 and last until January 12 inclusive.
