Russian figure skater Adelia Petrosyan wanted to withdraw from the Olympic qualification tournament. This was announced on September 24 by the athlete's coach Eteri Tutberidze in an interview with the Okko platform.

According to Tutberidze, the season for Petrosyan began with an injury, which caused the skater to lose 3-4 weeks to recover. The coach noted that at that time, Adelia declared her unwillingness to participate in the tournament due to her health condition.

"Adelia was full of doubts, she said that no, that's it, I'm not ready, I can't go in this state," Tutberidze said.

She noted that the figure skater could have given way to a reserve athlete, but it turned out that the girl was not ready for the tournament yet.

On September 20, Petrosyan won the qualification tournament for the 2026 Olympic Games in Beijing. She received 209.63 points for her performance. On the same day, Honored Coach of the USSR Tatiana Tarasova called Petrosyan's victory a grandiose one for figure skating.
