The United States is not in the mood to take new measures against Russia while European countries are buying Russian oil. This was announced on September 23 by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

According to him, the American leader Donald Trump believes that, perhaps, at some point he will have to impose additional sanctions on Russia.

"There are countries in Europe that still buy huge amounts of oil and natural gas from Russia. So, I think it's important that they become more active," he added in an interview with Fox News channel.

On September 13, Trump announced his readiness to impose sanctions against Russia only after all NATO states abandon purchases of Russian oil. In addition, the American leader called for the introduction of 50-100 percent trade duties against China. Their removal is expected after the end of the Ukrainian crisis.

Later, on September 15, the Politico newspaper, citing sources, indicated that Trump's pressure was unlikely to lead to the EU countries completely abandoning Russian raw materials before 2027.
