The Prosecutor's office of the Ivanovo region has filed a lawsuit against the former mayor of Ples, Alexei Shevtsov, demanding to recover more than 1 billion rubles of corrupt proceeds and withdraw 150 real estate assets to the state. This was reported on September 22 in the Telegram channel of the prosecutor's office of the region.

"The Prosecutor's Office of the Ivanovo region has revealed a violation of anti-corruption requirements by former deputy of the Council of the Plessk urban settlement and ex—head of the Plessk urban settlement Alexei Shevtsov," the report says.

According to the agency, he expanded his business activities in areas directly related to his official duties. Under Shevtsov's patronage, a monopoly was formed in the real estate, hotel business and catering market in Ples.

According to the prosecutor's office, Shevtsov's relatives and trusted representatives were involved in the criminal scheme. The total amount of illegal profits in the case exceeds 1 billion rubles. As a tool for generating income, 150 real estate objects were used, which are now planned to be withdrawn in favor of the state.
