Russia has again become the main importer of Chinese passenger cars. This was reported on September 20 by RIA Novosti with reference to data from the Chinese customs.

It is noted that the import of cars from this country has increased to a maximum since the beginning of the year.

At the end of the summer, the volume of deliveries increased by a quarter, as a result, Russian companies again became leaders in purchasing Chinese passenger cars in August.

According to the agency, China exported a total of $10.2 billion worth of cars to other countries in August. At the same time, exports for eight months amounted to $69.4 billion. Russian imports of Chinese cars against the background of increased recycling decreased to $4.1 billion against $9.15 billion for the same period in 2024.

For some models more powerful than 160 hp, importers will pay almost a thousand times more

Earlier, on September 16, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, said that 38,000 used passenger cars were imported from China to Russia in the first eight months of 2025. This is 4.5 times more than in the same period last year. The Toyota brand accounts for 20% of used car imports from China, where they are manufactured. The leader is the Toyota RAV4 model, and Corolla, Harrier, Highlander, Prado, and C-HR are also in demand.
