Lukashenko proposed to solve the potato problem in a military way
On September 19, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko proposed a military solution to the problem of shortage of potatoes and other vegetables.
During his working trip to the Grodno region, the President of Belarus discussed the problem of vegetable shortages with Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Yuri Karaev. According to Karaev, there are fewer potatoes this year than in previous years, but the needs are being met.
"The main thing is that all your storages are cleaned and prepared in order to put vegetables, fruits, potatoes. This must be done militarily," the BelTA news agency quoted Lukashenko as saying.
Karayev also assured the Belarusian leader that there are additional volumes for supplies to Minsk.
"Make sure that we don't have any problems with vegetables and potatoes," Lukashenko warned.
Earlier, on September 12, Lukashenko said that Belarus would not allow a shortage of potatoes, which had problems in the spring of 2025, as the country had a good harvest this year. According to the Belarusian leader, the acreage for potatoes has been expanded, and this year's harvest promises to be excellent.
