After an earthquake of magnitude 7.8 in the Kamchatka Territory, rescuers deployed a temporary accommodation facility for residents. This was announced on September 19 in the Telegram channel of the center for Civil Defense, Emergency and fire safety in the region.

"A temporary stay point is being deployed in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on the basis of the search and rescue detachment of the KGKU "Data Center" - Khalaktyrskoye Highway, 6/6," the report says.

The heads of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vilyuchinsky city districts, as well as Yelizovsky municipal district, were recommended to prepare points for accommodating citizens who are afraid to stay in apartment buildings at night. To clarify the information on accommodation, residents are invited to contact the unified duty and dispatch services of the municipality.

Earlier that day, the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Kamchatka Territory reported that the magnitude of the morning aftershock in Kamchatka was 7.8. The depth of the seismic event was 10 km. The earthquake occurred 145 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Later, after the earthquake off the coast of Kamchatka, a tsunami threat was announced. The operational services of the region have been placed on high alert.
