Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on September 18 that Russia was ready to seek compromises on a settlement in Ukraine if Moscow's legitimate security interests were guaranteed.

Lavrov noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed the importance of compromise for sustainable agreements.

"We are ready to look for them, provided that our legitimate security interests and the legitimate interests of the Russian people in Ukraine are secured in the same way as the legitimate interests of other participants in such an agreement," TASS quoted him as saying.

On September 17, the Russian Foreign Minister said that the United Nations (UN) ignores Kiev's actions and protects it. The diplomat clarified that the Ukrainian authorities ignore such requirements as a ban on the deployment of military equipment and firing positions in residential areas, a ban on torture and abuse of prisoners of war, as well as the civilian population.

On the same day, Lavrov said that there were many facts of false accusations against the Russian army, which in fact were the actions of the Kiev regime. He stressed that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation never strike at civilian targets and civilians.
