Viktor Ageev, a two-time European boxing champion in the USSR national team, spent several days in intensive care before his death. This was reported by TASS on September 17, citing a source.

"Ageev has spent the last few days in intensive care. In recent years, Viktor Petrovich has practically not appeared in public. A big loss. A legendary man," the source said.

Viktor Ageev died earlier in the day at the age of 85. It was clarified that Ageev became the European champion in 1965 and 1967 in the weight category up to 71 kg. In 1992, he was elected president of the Russian Professional Boxing Federation, and also joined the leadership of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and the Pan-Asian Boxing Association (PABA).

In 1980, Ageev became one of the initiators of the development of professional boxing in the USSR.
