Sales of alcoholic beverages decreased by 11.4% in eight months%
Retail sales of vodka in Russia in January–August of this year decreased by 3.9% compared to the same period in 202 and amounted to 47.83 million dal. Cognac sales, in turn, decreased by 9.6% to 8.2 million dal. This was reported by TASS on September 16, citing data from Rosalokoltabakcontrol.
At the same time, sales of alcoholic beverages increased by 15% and reached 11.87 million dal. As for other alcoholic beverages, the increase was 4.2% to 9.36 million dal. In general, sales of alcoholic beverages with a strength of over 9% decreased by 1.2% and amounted to 77.26 million dal.
Total sales of alcoholic beverages excluding beer, beer drinks, cider, poiret and mead in Russia decreased by 11.4% over the period to 132.55 million dal. Sales of low-alcohol beverages, in turn, decreased by 88.6% and amounted to 1.21 million dal.
Sales of grape wines decreased by 1.3%, to 37.3 million dal, liqueur wines — by 11.3%, to 776.4 thousand dal. Sales of sparkling wines, in turn, fell by 2.8% to 13.1 million dal.
It is also noted that sales of grape—containing beverages with ethyl alcohol decreased by 10.3%, amounting to 926.7 thousand dal, and without ethyl alcohol - by 60.6%, to 162.5 thousand dal. Sales of fruit alcoholic beverages decreased by 74.8%, to 1.81 million dal.
In May, it became known about the record volume of alcohol production in eight years. It was specified that in 2024, the volume of alcoholic beverages amounted to 10.1 billion liters, which is 9.5% more than in 2023. It was specified that the production of wines increased by 14%, grape wines — by 8.6%, sparkling wines — by 24.7%, and liqueur wines — by almost 30%.
