India has sent 65 military personnel to participate in the Russian-Belarusian Zapad-2025 exercises. This was reported on September 16 by The Times newspaper with reference to the country's Ministry of Defense.

"65 military personnel have been sent to participate in the maneuvers, including units of one of the most revered formations of the Indian army, the Kumaon Regiment. They are located at the Mulino training ground about 40 miles west of Nizhny Novgorod," the article says.

The aim of New Delhi's participation in the military exercises is to further strengthen defense cooperation and develop friendly Russian-Indian relations. It is expected that this will strengthen the spirit of cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries.

It is also emphasized that the Indian military will take part in joint training, tactical exercises and the development of special types of weapons together with their Russian counterparts.

Earlier in the day, The Times reported on the concern of Western countries over India's participation in the Zapad-2025 exercises. According to the publication, this initiative, at a time of aggravation of the situation between the Russian Federation and NATO, is allegedly an alarming signal against the background of the future scale of security relations between the United States and India.
