Irish mixed martial artist, former champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Conor McGregor refused to participate in the Irish presidential election, which will be held on November 11, 2025. He stated this on September 15 in his social network X (ex. Twitter).

"After careful consideration and discussion with my family, I withdraw my candidacy from these presidential elections. It was not an easy decision, but at the moment it is the right one," the athlete wrote.

He also noted that he plans to participate in the elections again in the future, continuing to fight for the rights of citizens and represent the interests of the country on the world stage. According to McGregor, this is just the beginning of his "political journey."

McGregor announced his intention to run for President of Ireland on September 4. Then he said that he would not sign any bill until it was first submitted to the people for consideration.
